HAPPY CHINESE "OX" YEAR
This is my first new year celebration without my family members. It is kind of awful, isn't it?! Frankly, I was feeling blue for the past two weeks. Chinese New Year songs are supposed to be cheerful, but it make me sullen instead of cheering me up. I had the same dream for few nights, I dreamt of myself celebrating Chinese New Year with my family members and receive red packet from my grandmother, my parents, relatives. Pathetic, isn't it?! sigh~
Anyway, I still had a very nice Chinese New Year eve dinner with my flatmates. I really appreciate that and that was the only moment where I can feel the Chinese New Year atmosphere. We had a lot of food on that day. I will tell you guys what I had on that night!! You will be amazed, I suppose to.
Spring rolls
Dumplings
Pork mince bun
Steam glutinous rice with pork mice
Boiled chicken
Chicken soup
Fish soup
Baked Fish
Steam Fish
Fried Vermicelli
Bean Curd with mushrooms
Sticky Cake
My Hong Kong flatmates and I prepared those dishes. We cooked for around seven hours. Those spring rolls and dumplings are not ready-made one, we did it all on our own. Everything is made by us, even the dumpling dough is also hand made. Incredible?! I thought we guys are really fantastic!! We have taken many pictures of the food and also the chefs, wait patiently for it to be uploaded on facebook by my flatmates.
The dinner started at 7.30pm with 13 of us. There are alot of leftover food, not because those dishes do not taste nice, is just that we have cooked too much. After that we have more and more visitors, I do not know most of them but they just come into our flat and hang around, so our flat dinner "transform" to an open house event. It is as if celebrating Chinese New Year, where people will come and visit and you serve them with food.
It was a tiring day for me and the second day I have to drag myself up and go to class and it is first day of Chinese New Year!!!!!!! AARRGGHHH.... So, this is how I celebrated Chinese New Year 2009!!!!! Before I end, I wish everyone
新年快乐
万事顺利
牛年行好运
Happy Australian Day+Happy Burnsnight Day
